Although, I had a headache and felt quite weak I decided to visit Florence and spend the day there. I didn’t have time to plan so instead of stressing about visiting the “must see” places I wandered around the city and tried to absorb its atmosphere and its beautiful architecture. If you want to experience the streets of Florence come along with me and take a walk in this beautiful city.
Start the day with a strong Italian coffee (you’ll need the energy for sightseeing)
After I left the train station I found myself in this small street with parking motorbikes.
It wasn’t intentional but I ended up by the famous dome.
Around the dome there were singers and musicians entertaining the crowds.
As I followed the crowd I got to the famous Uffizi Gallery.
Although, I didn’t go in there were plenty to see.
From the copy of David to other statues.
And of course there were pigeons, too.
After I spent some time in front of the gallery it was time to discover some lesser known streets.
It’s good to leave the beaten path sometimes and discover another face of Florence. If you leave the grand piazzas you can find some cool street art in Florence.
After a short detour I followed the crowd again and find myself by Ponte Vecchio.
It was a sunny day and the lights reflected from the river created these interesting patterns on the walls.
After crossing the bridge I got to Piazza Pitti and the Pitti palace.
I was quite tired so I bought a slice of pizza and sat down on the church steps to eat my lunch.
The weather was perfect for a walk in the botanical garden.
As I haven’t had a proper autumn in 2 years I couldn’t stop admiring the trees with their yellow leaves.
From the top of the hill there was a spectacular view to Florence.
By the time I walked back to the other side of the river it started to get dark and it was time to say goodbye to Florence.
